CEWE rings in the Christmas season with Minister President Weil

Lower Saxony's Minister President Stephan Weil (SPD) was astonished: a festively decorated Christmas tree in August, complete with beautifully wrapped presents - something that can probably only be found at CEWE in Oldenburg. Yesterday, in summery temperatures, the Christmas season was heralded here - the most important time of the year for the company. ‘From now on, there is only one theme at CEWE,’ emphasised CEWE CEO Yvonne Rostock: ’Christmas.’ Once again this year, the company wants to inspire millions of people throughout Europe to capture their favourite memories in a CEWE PHOTOBOOK or a photo calendar. ‘It's great that we can welcome such prominent guests at the start of our Christmas season,’ added Rostock.

Weil recognises CEWE as a strong business partner

Weil visited the production halls, where around 400 seasonal workers will join the permanent staff from September. The morning's programme also included an exchange of views between company management and politicians. The Minister President was accompanied by Dennis Rohde, Ulf Prange (both SPD) and Lena Nzume (Alliance 90/The Greens). ‘It is important for us to find out more about the opportunities and challenges facing companies in order to strengthen the regional economy,’ emphasised Stephan Weil. ‘This is best done directly on site.’ He was impressed by CEWE's efficient production and strong innovative power. In addition, the team spirit is omnipresent in the halls, Weil noted.

In addition to its role as an employer, CEWE also plays an important role in the region. Yvonne Rostock emphasised the company's social commitment, which includes sponsorship of sport, such as the EWE Baskets, as well as its involvement in the education sector, science and research.

Challenges posed by EU regulation

At the end of the visit, company management and politicians agreed that only together could a strong signal be sent for an innovative and competitive future in Europe. Especially when it comes to issues such as infrastructure and regulation. As a prospering international group with locations throughout Europe, CEWE is dependent on flexible and reliable transport options, emphasised Yvonne Rostock.

As far as regulation from the EU is concerned, the influence on the Oldenburg business model is becoming ever stronger. ‘Our goal is to further expand our European market leadership. At the same time, we have to realise that the strict regulations in Germany are particularly challenging for international competition. This applies to the product world as well as software and services, especially in the area of data protection,’ explained Yvonne Rostock, emphasising: ’Business and politics must support each other even more in this area in order to remain competitive in the long term.’
